I’m the author of Skellig, Kit’s Wilderness, My Name is Mina, The Tightrope Walkers, The Savage, A Song for Ella Grey, Half a Creature from the Sea, The Tale of Angelino Brown and many more novels, stories, picture books, songs, opera librettos and plays.
I’ve always loved Kathryn Tickell’s music. We’ve already worked together a couple of times. We wrote a song – Song of the Tyne – that was premiered at The Sage Gateshead, sung by dozens of children from schools by the river. I’ve written a book about her and her father, Mike. It’s called The Dam, and it’ll be published next year.
When Kathryn suggested we might share a stage together, I jumped at the chance…
